‘Holding, Folding’ follows two women who came to Berlin from Korea in the 1970s as nurses, and the community that now holds them together in the language of care. The work stays with what a mythologised devotion, or a monument, cannot hold: the private reasons for leaving, the loneliness that outlasts arrival, and the unglamorous labour of looking after one another. Here, care is passed from hand to hand, and from one generation to the next.

‘Holding, Folding’은 1970년대 파독 간호사로 베를린에 온 두 여성, 그리고 한때 직업으로 돌봄을 제공했던 이들이 이제 서로를 돌보는 공동체의 시간을 따라간다. 이 프로젝트는 파독 간호사가 대변하는 신화화된 헌신, 혹은 기념비적인 상징이 담을 수 없는 것들에 머문다. 떠남의 사적인 이유들, 도착한 뒤에도 남는 외로움, 그리고 서로를 챙기는 화려하지 않은 노동. 이 돌봄의 공동체는 손에서 손으로, 세대에서 세대로 이어진다.
