How can South Koreans get as close as possible to the separated state of North Korea? The shortest route from Seoul to North Korea is only 25 km long. Pyongyang is 199 km, which is still a much shorter distance than 457 km between Seoul and Busan, the second largest city in South Korea. In reality, a journey from South to North Korea is physically impossible. But even if it were possible, it would include stopovers in four other countries that are historically and diplomatically deeply involved in the history between South Korea and North Korea. In Berlin, the South Korean embassy is about 4 km away from the North Korean embassy, which is 11 minutes by car or 36 minutes on foot.
